Capital Campaign Project Assistant


At the National Federation of the Blind, development work is coordinated with our overall outreach efforts. The capital campaign project assistant is a vital member of the team who proactively coordinates and implements projects related to the capital campaign. By supporting the outreach and development staff and executive leadership, they will support an upcoming campaign through both the quiet and public phases.

The capital campaign project assistant reports to the director of outreach, and is responsible for coordinating implementation of an upcoming capital campaign with a $6,000,000 fundraising goal.

Essential Functions

  • Assists individuals to connect with organizational resources
  • Guides capital campaign projects, coordinates activities, and monitors progress to ensure fundraising efforts are on track and revenue goals are met
  • Oversees implementation and ongoing execution of capital campaign activities
  • Tracks assignments and fundraising outcomes
  • Supports staff and volunteer campaign solicitors, helping them to be successful
  • Supports director of outreach, members of the fundraising team, and the President in meeting major gift revenue goals by researching major gifts prospects, preparing briefings for use by fundraisers, searching for new donor prospects within the donor database, and working with development staff to evaluate prospects
  • Updates database with results and assigns prospects to portfolios as appropriate
  • Prepares meeting materials including major gift reports, team, and portfolio analysis
  • Creates campaign activity tracking reports, monitors campaign timelines, and coordinates campaign logistics
  • Oversees acknowledgement of all campaign gifts or pledges and manages pledge reminder process
  • Supports event planning and execution as needed


  • Proficiency with MS Office and database management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to effectively relate to a broad variety of people
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience with the operation of a successful, multi-million dollar capital campaign
  • Analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to drive projects through to completion and meet goals/objectives within budget and time constraints
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
